Day-by-day itinerary
DAY 1
Shimla to Sangla via Sarahan
Arrive Shimla, drive via Narkanda and Rampur, stop at Sarahan Bhimakali Temple and continue to Sangla. Overnight in Sangla.
DAY 2
Holi in Sangla and Chitkul
Morning Holi celebration with the group, then afternoon drive to Chitkul, snow permitting. Overnight in Sangla.
DAY 3
Sangla to Kalpa
Drive to Kalpa via Reckong Peo, visit Roghi village and the Kalpa monastery. Overnight in Kalpa.
DAY 4
Kalpa to Shimla, overnight to Delhi
Sunrise over Kinnaur Kailash, then drive to Shimla and board the overnight bus to Delhi, arriving the next morning.
A long-weekend group trip timed for the Holi holiday. You celebrate with herbal colours in Sangla among the snowy peaks of Kinnaur, then continue to Kalpa for views of the Kinnaur Kailash range before heading home. Groups travel together from Delhi with a trip leader.
Departure point: Ex Delhi. Overnight departure from Delhi to Shimla the evening before Day 1; return overnight from Shimla after Day 4.
Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1 — Shimla to Sangla via Sarahan
Arrive Shimla, drive via Narkanda and Rampur, stop at Sarahan Bhimakali Temple and continue to Sangla. Overnight in Sangla.
Day 2 — Holi in Sangla and Chitkul
Morning Holi celebration with the group, then afternoon drive to Chitkul, snow permitting. Overnight in Sangla.
Day 3 — Sangla to Kalpa
Drive to Kalpa via Reckong Peo, visit Roghi village and the Kalpa monastery. Overnight in Kalpa.
Day 4 — Kalpa to Shimla, overnight to Delhi
Sunrise over Kinnaur Kailash, then drive to Shimla and board the overnight bus to Delhi, arriving the next morning.

Is Holi celebrated in Kinnaur?
Holi is not a major local festival in Kinnaur. The celebration on this trip is a group event at our stay, organised with the host.
What if it snows?
Snow makes the trip prettier but may close the last stretch to Chitkul. In that case we spend more time in Sangla and Kalpa.
